Polly Agatha Skipper
I have loved the sea and sailing since boyhood, first in dinghies, then, over twenty years ago, sailing yachts. I have previously owned two fine boats. First, a 1970s Nicholson 35 then a 35 foot steel cutter which I took to the Channel Islands when I lived and worked in Guernsey. However, Polly is undoubtedly the finest yacht I have ever sailed and marks a new chapter in my life, merging a love of seafaring tradition with the pleasures of practical sailing and the conviviality of the sea. I am hugely looking forward to welcoming guests on board to share these things.
I am a commercial yachtmaster and I have also worked in the Mediterranean (mostly the South of France) as a flotilla skipper. I enjoy looking after guests and helping them to enjoy themselves.
In my previous professional life I worked as a tax professional. First, in the Inland Revenue (as it was then) and then for a large tax and accountancy firm in the City, work that eventually took me to the Channel Islands which I know well and love dearly.
I am something of a Francophile and I am very familiar with the coasts of North Brittany and Normandy from both a sailing and shore side perspective.
I have a broad ‘hinterland’ of other interests beside sailing including music, literature and Sport (particularly Rugby and Cricket).
I live in the beautiful rolling hills of Dorset where my wife and I and our small dog also run a holiday cottage.
