Trip 1 – May 18th -2019

Cowes to Falmouth South Coast Cruise

Join Polly Agatha in Cowes at the Yacht Haven (Easy Fastcat from Southampton and possibility to join the night before and even buy the skipper a pint!). We set sail on Saturday morning and look to make West down the English coast stopping each night in harbours along the way.

A lot depends on the weather as to the length of the legs but Lyme Bay is always a ‘long-day’ so be prepared for early starts and late finishes plus some fantastic sailing! We finish in Falmouth where you will disembark and travel by train back home.

Trip 2 – May 22nd-27th 2019 – 5 days

Pilot Cutter World Championships Falmouth, Fowey, St.Mawes, Falmouth

A dozen or more pilot cutters get together every year to test themselves against each other. This is not a trip for the faint hearted, the sailing is keen and at times hard work as we have to sail her from Falmouth where we’ll meet, then down to Fowey, then race round to St.Mawes and then finish in Falmouth! In the evenings we raft up with the other boats and have a BBQ and a pint, chatting over the days events with the other crews.

The racing starts on Friday, from a gorgeous little hideaway on the Polruan side of the River Fowey, called Prime Cellars. Pilot cutter ‘Hespa’ owners kindly throw open their doors, and host the first night of festivities. Friday morning we all set off for a race from Fowey to St Mawes, and this is where the fun starts. With these powerful boats sailing in the harbour, it is an amazing sight. Saturday and Sunday are race days, with one or two races on each day. Saturday night we spend up the River Fal, and have a BBQ, and share stories from the day.

Every night is a social feast, and great fun. No previous experience of sailing is necessary, and you will have time to get to know Polly Agatha before racing starts. You will find yourselves enriched by getting involved in the pulling of ropes, taking the helm and handling of sail. Although racing is involved, this is primarily a fun, social event, and open to all. If you have friends and family who wish to watch, then St Mawes Castle is a good place to take in the action as a spectator.

Trip 3 – June 9th – 16th | 7 Days

Falmouth to Guernsey, St.Peter Port and Channel Islands

Join us aboard the Polly Agatha as we set sail from Falmouth Harbour across the English Channel to St Peter Port in Guernsey. The Channel crossing is over 100 miles but we’ll be covering that in Seven days so this is a great chance to pile on a few miles and learn to navigate away from land under the experienced eye of our Master Kim who has own and sailed Polly Agatha for ten years.

It’s a great way to experience offshore sailing and to get the feel of a longer voyage or even just to have the chance to see two historic channel ports with a bit of sailing thrown in too!

The exact route will depend on the tides and weather but typically we either sail a direct route to Guernsey (which will give us time to spend a few days on Sark or Herm) or run along the South Coast to Salcombe and cross from there. We aim to be in St Peter Port as early as possible on the Sunday.
